Getting Started with Cash App
Cash App is the easiest way to send, spend, save, and invest your money.
Here’s how it works:
Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or go to cash.app and click Sign up
Create a Cash App account
Link a Visa, MasterCard, or Discover debit card
Add money to your account
Once you have money in your account, you can:
Send and receive money with friends
Make purchases
Buy and sell stocks
Buy and sell bitcoin
Cash App is also accessible on the web. While not all in-app features are available online, we’re working to bring them there soon, so you can manage your money from anywhere.
Let’s get started.
Create an Account
You can download Cash App directly to your mobile device from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or sign up on the web at cash.app.
To create an account:
Download the app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store, or go to cash.app and click Sign up
Enter the email or phone number you’d like to use for your account
Submit the confirmation code sent by text message or email
Add your Visa, MasterCard, or Discover debit card details, including the card number, CVV, expiration date, and zip code
Provide your legal name and date of birth
Choose a $cashtag — a unique username you'll use for sending and receiving money
Enter your zip code
Create a PIN
Adding Money
Before you can make payments or purchases with Cash App, you’ll need to add money to your account.
To add money in-app:
Go to the Money tab
Select Add Money
Choose a preset amount, or press “...” to enter a custom amount
If prompted, confirm your PIN or with biometrics
Press Next
Tap Add
To add money on the web:
Go to cash.app/account and log in
On the left side, click Money
Select Add Money
Choose a preset amount, or enter a custom amount
Press Continue
If prompted, confirm your PIN
Sending and Receiving Money
With Cash App, you can quickly send and receive money with friends.
To send or receive funds in-app:
Go to the Payments tab ($)
Enter the amount you want to send or receive
Choose Request or Pay
Enter the recipient’s email, phone number, or $cashtag
Add a note explaining what the payment is for
Press Request or Pay to complete the transaction
On the web, you can send and receive funds to people you’ve previously exchanged with in the app. To do so:
Go to cash.app/account and log in
On the left side, click Pay & Request
Select Pay or Request
Enter the payment details, including the amount and the recipient’s email, phone number, or $cashtag
Add a note explaining what the payment is for
Choose your balance or linked debit card if you’re sending funds
Click Pay or Request to complete the transaction

Withdrawing Money
You can withdraw money to your external bank account at any time.
To withdraw money in-app:
Go to the Money tab
Press Withdraw
Choose an amount
Select your bank account and transfer speed
If prompted, confirm your PIN or with biometrics
To withdraw money on the web:
Go to cash.app/account and log in
On the left side, click Money
Select Withdraw
Choose or enter an amount
Press Continue
Select your bank account and transfer speed
If prompted, confirm your PIN

Cash App Card
The Cash App Card is a Visa debit card connected to your account. Why would you want a debit card connected to Cash App?
Offers: Shop and save instantly on everyday purchases with exclusive offers.
No Fees: There are no additional fees associated with a Cash App Card.
Customization: Pick a card and make it yours by choosing from a variety of designs and colors.
To order a Cash App Card:
Go to the Card tab
Select Get your free card
Tap Continue

You must be 13+ (with a sponsored account) or 18 and older to apply for a Cash App Card. Cards should arrive within 10 business days. Your card can be used as soon as you order it, by adding it to Apple Pay and Google Pay, or by using the card details found in the Card tab. Banking services provided and debit card issued by Sutton Bank, Member FDIC.
Bitcoin
You can buy, sell, and send bitcoin through Cash App. To do so:
Go to the Money tab
Tap on the Bitcoin tile
Choose to buy, sell, or send bitcoin

Investing
You don’t have to be a billionaire to invest in stocks. With Cash App, you can buy fractional shares—tiny pieces of stocks nearly anyone can afford—making it easy to invest in the largest companies.
To get started:
Go to the Money tab
Tap on the Stocks tile

Deposits
You can deposit paychecks, tax returns, unemployment benefits, and more directly to your Cash App account. To do so:
Go to the Money tab
Tap your Cash balance
Select Direct deposit
Follow the prompts to set up direct deposit
