Tap to Pay on iPhone Troubleshooting

If you receive a “Something’s wrong” message during a Tap to Pay sale, confirm the following:

  • Your device is supported: Tap to Pay is currently available on iPhone XS and above running iOS 16.7 or later

  • Your device software is up-to-date: To update to the latest version, go to Settings > General > Software Update. Then tap Download & Install

  • Your passcode is set upLearn more about using a passcode with your Apple device

  • You’re signed into the correct Apple AccountLearn more about signing into your Apple Account

  • Your internet connection is stable: A weak or unstable WiFi or internet connection can cause payments to fail

  • Your Cash App is up to date: Tap to Pay works best on Cash App version 5.1.0 and above—visit the App Store to download the latest update

If you’ve checked the above and the message still appears, make sure:

  • The payment amount entered will not exceed your account or payment limits

  • You remain on the Tap to Pay screen until the transaction completes

  • You’re not on a phone call while using Tap to Pay
