What is Cash App Local?

Cash App Local is a promotional rewards program designed to benefit customers, local Square businesses, and their staff. This program matches your tip dollar for dollar with Local Cash rewards up to certain caps, and is tracked in your Local Cash balance, which is located in the Local Tab. 

What is Local Cash?

Local Cash is a reward you earn when you leave a tip at a participating local Square business. It matches your tip dollar for dollar with Local Cash rewards and is tracked in a balance on your Local tab. You earn up to $4 Local Cash on purchases <$10, or 30% on purchases ≥$10, and up to $25 in Local Cash offers before linking your Cash App account. To link your Cash App account, you’ll need to create a Cash App account or send the Local Cash to your existing Cash App account via the prompts after scanning the QR Code. You can use Local Cash at any participating local Square business, so it goes straight back into the community—helping to fuel the local economy. 

Where can I earn Local Cash?

Cash App Local is currently only available in Portland, OR at participating Square Sellers. We’re always looking to expand, and will continue to add new markets as we do so.

How can I earn Local Cash?

By leaving a tip at a participating seller in-store, or on orders in the Cash App Local Tab. Whether you’re paying with Cash App Pay, your Cash App Card, or a linked credit or debit card. Your tip will automatically earn you Local Cash in the same amount, up to the caps noted above.

If you don’t have a Cash App account, you’ll simply scan a QR code at the register, and your Local Cash will be transferred to your Cash App account once created. Once you open Cash App, you’ll be prompted to link your Square account, follow the steps to open a Cash App account and agree to the Cash App Local terms. Your Local Cash will be available to spend right away on the Local tab.

If you choose not to sign up for Cash App, your Local Cash offers will accumulate to claim later, up to $25 when using the same payment instrument. Once you sign up for a Cash App account, the funds will be transferred to your Local Cash balance. 

You currently cannot earn Local Cash on cash payments, house accounts, gift cards, your Local Cash balance, or other promotional rewards.

How do I use Local Cash?

• Local Cash can be spent at any participating local seller on Cash App. You’ll see an option to use your Local Cash when you place an order on the Local tab.

• Currently Local Cash can only be spent on orders placed on Cash App—not in store.

• Local Cash is purely promotional, has no cash value, and is non-transferrable, meaning you can not use it on your general Cash App balance or convert it to any other type of currency within Cash App. 

What will happen to my loyalty points when I earn Local Cash?

If you’re already enrolled in a loyalty program at a participating local business, you’ll continue to earn those rewards in addition to earning Local Cash.
