Recognize and Report Phishing Scams

Cash Support Recognize and Report Phishing Scams

What is Phishing?

Phishing is an attempt by a fraudulent actor to collect personal and/or financial information by verbally requesting it over the phone, through emails, or by sending text messages that direct recipients to fake websites that are posing as real ones.

How to Identify Phishing

All Cash App email communications come from ”@square.com,” @squareup.com,” or “@cash.app” addresses. Official Cash App websites contain “square.com,” “squareup.com,” or “cash.me.” Emails and websites originating from other addresses are likely phishing scams.

If you receive an email that is not from one of the above addresses, or see a phone number that is not on an official Cash App website, please contact us to report the incident. The team will investigate and take action.

Verify the URL

Phishing emails and phone calls often direct recipients to a website that is NOT associated with Cash App to enter sensitive information such as your $Cashtag, phone number, email, login code, PIN, email and/or social security number.

Be sure that you’re on a secure site before entering your Cash App login information. To do so, check that the web address in your browser is https://cash.me or https://cash.app and that the locked Square, Inc. icon has populated next to this web address.

Contacting Cash Support

To speak to a member of the Cash Team, please request contact through the Cash App, cash.app/help, cash.me/support, or @CashSupport on Twitter.

Protect Sensitive Information

Cash App will never ask you to provide sensitive information, such as your login code or PIN (personal identification number), through email, over the phone, or in a text message.

If you receive a suspicious email or phone call, don’t reply to the message, give out personal or account information, click on links, or open attachments. If you believe that you are being targeted by a phishing scam, please reset your Cash App PIN and alert your bank/debit card.

Please also report the incident to Cash App immediately by contacting us below so the team can investigate and take action.
