How do I check the status of a dispute?

You will receive an in-app notification, email, and an updated status in the dispute details in your Cash App when we have an update on your dispute. You can view that information in your Cash App by following these steps:

  1. Go to the Activity icon
  2. Select the Cash App Card transaction being disputed
  3. Select the payment status for more dispute details

Investigation Timeline

Once you submit a dispute, our team will investigate your claim and reach out with an update via email and a notification in the app within 10 business days (14 calendar days). We will also provide a provisional credit to your account within the same timeframe. The complete investigation may take up to 45 days. When it concludes, we will notify you of the result via email and a notification in your app.

How Do Provisional Credits Work?

A provisional credit is a temporary credit issued to your Cash App for the amount of the charge you are disputing. This credit will be available throughout the investigation and will be made permanent if we resolve the dispute in your favor.

You can spend your provisional credit like any other money in your Cash App. However, we will revoke your provisional credit at the end of the investigation if we find the charge was legitimate. This could result in a negative balance if there is not enough money in the account in the event the provisional credit is withdrawn, so we recommend approaching your provisional credit with caution.
