Common Delays with Direct Deposits
In most cases we make direct deposits available as soon as they are received, which can be up to two days earlier than many other banks. The timing of your deposit can vary depending on when they are submitted. Typically, funds are available within 1-53 business days once they are sent.
There are a few common reasons why you may experience delays in receiving your direct deposit:
Incorrect Information: Your employer/depositor may have entered the incorrect details while processing payroll, such as the date or account information.
Submission Timing: Your employer/depositor might have submitted the direct deposit request after business hours or missed the submission deadline.
Bank Holidays: These can lead to longer processing times.
We recommend contacting the payroll department to confirm "to confirm they submitted your direct deposit accurately and on time.
Direct Deposits can also vary based on the type of payout or issuing agency. Some specific groups that delays are common for include:
Government Benefits: Certain benefits like Social Security, SSI, and Veterans Assistance follow specific schedules. If the payment date falls on a federal holiday or weekend, your payment will arrive on the preceding business day. For a detailed schedule, you can check here or SSA website for the official SSI schedule.
Unemployment, Child Support, and Other Annuities: Payment schedules for these types of payments vary state-to-state. Check with your state agency for their specific timing.
On-Demand Payouts: Some employers offer on-demand payouts, which allows employees to withdraw earned money at any time, instead of waiting for a traditional pay cycle. If you’re using this method, we suggest requesting the payment ahead of any urgent needs to account for processing times.
Staffing Agencies: Deposits from staffing agencies may experience delays due to longer processing times. For concerns or updates on pay dates, please contact the staffing agency directly.

If you haven't received your direct deposit after five business days of it being sent and have already checked with the issuing employer/depositor, please reach out to us at cash.app/support. Please note that support agents cannot view pending direct deposits, as this is standard across all banks due to the way the banking system is set up.
