Taproot upgrade for Bitcoin is here — what it means for Cash App
Taproot, a highly anticipated upgrade to the Bitcoin Network, went into effect on November 14, 2021, at block 709,632.
Over time, Cash App customers may benefit from Taproot’s:
Increased privacy features
Reduced transaction fees
Better smart contracts
To ensure a seamless update, we will confirm that the mainnet Taproot activation is working as expected before rolling it out to all customers.
As of December 1, 2021, all Cash App customers can now send bitcoin to Taproot-enabled wallets.
