How do I check the status of a dispute?
You will receive an in-app notification, email, and an updated status in the dispute details in your Cash App when we have an update on your dispute. You can view that information in your Cash App by following these steps:
Go to the Activity icon
Select the Cash App Card transaction being disputed
Investigation Timeline
Once you submit a dispute, our team will investigate your claim and reach out with an update via email and a notification in the app within 10 business days. If we are unable to complete the investigation within 10 business days, we will provide a provisional credit to your account at that time while the investigation continues. The complete investigation may take up to 45 days.
When we complete our investigation, we will notify you of the results via email and a notification in your app. Please note that provisional credits are only issued for eligible disputes and do not include disputes concerning goods and services not received or not as described, and the investigation into these claims may take longer. Please see our Terms of Service for more information.
How Do Provisional Credits Work?
A provisional credit is a temporary credit issued to your Cash App for the amount of your dispute. If the dispute is resolved in your favor, the provisional credit will be made permanent. You can spend your provisional credit like any other money in your Cash App.
If we determine no error occurred at the end of our investigation, then you will receive notice that the provisional credit will be revoked and the date on which this will occur. This could result in a negative balance if there is not enough money in the account in the event the provisional credit is withdrawn.
