Broadcom (AVGO) 10-for-1 Stock Split

Broadcom completed a 10 for 1 stock split on July 15, 2024. All holders of AVGO received 10 shares of AVGO in exchange for every 1 AVGO share held at the close of trading on July 12, 2024.

This affected all AVGO shareholders. Due to this stock split, scheduled orders for AVGO were not accepted between market close on July 12, 2024 and market open on July 15, 2024.

What does this mean?

With the stock split, each AVGO share was divided into smaller pieces. This lowered the price of each share. To ensure that all shareholders’ value remains the same, Broadcom shareholders received additional shares.

How will this impact my holdings?

Your total number of AVGO shares increased while the price per share decreased.

For example: if you had 10 shares of Broadcom stock, during this 10 for 1 stock split, Broadcom granted you 10 shares for every 1 share you owned. However, the value of each share was initially around 1/10 of the original price.

How can I calculate the number of shares I own?

To calculate the number of shares that you now own after the split, follow the math below:

Shares previously owned x 10 = New amount of shares held.

For example:
Before the split you owned 3 shares of Broadcom.
Use the equation above (3 previously owned shares x 10)
You now own 30 shares of Broadcom.

Note: Broadcom’s historical graphs will be updated to take the split into account.
