Paying at Gas Stations

Gas stations may charge your Cash Card a temporary authorization hold of up to $175. The cost of your gas will be charged later as a separate transaction that releases the authorization hold. To avoid this issue, pay for the amount of gas you’d like at the register before you pump.

Merchants typically refund transactions within 2 hours, but it can sometimes take up to 1 day for Cash App to receive the refund. As soon as Cash App receives the refund, the funds will automatically appear in your Cash App balance.

Please reach out directly to the merchant if you have any questions.

If you have free overdraft coverage enabled, a gas station authorization hold may use your overdraft balance. Once your card is charged the correct amount for the gas you purchased, Cash App will reimburse the initial pre-authorization charge to your account.

Cash App will never charge you a fee for using Free Overdraft Coverage.
