Stocks and bitcoin are available to Cash App sponsored accounts. With the ability to invest in stocks and bitcoin, the person you sponsor can learn the basics of investing by buying bitcoin, and stocks of their favorite companies — for as little as $1.
Sponsored accounts can:
- Buy and sell stocks (One-time and Custom Orders)
- Buy and sell bitcoin (One-time and Custom Orders)
- Gift bitcoin (sending bitcoin from your Cash App Balance)
- Round Ups in stocks and bitcoin
- Auto Invest in stocks
- Get Paid in Bitcoin
Sponsored accounts are unable to:
- Send bitcoin to other $Cashtags (bitcoin peer-to-peer transactions)
- Use Bitcoin Boosts
- Send and receive bitcoin via the Lightning Network
- Send and receive bitcoin via the Bitcoin network
Anyone 13-17 can get started with bitcoin and stocks with a sponsored account and additional approval from their sponsor.
If they already have a sponsored account, they must request an additional approval to invest in stocks and bitcoin:
- Tap the Money tab
- Tap the Stock tile
- Tap Continue
If they don’t have a sponsored account:
- Tap the Money tab
- Tap the Stock tile
- Buy stocks (any amount above $1 will work!)
- Begin the sign-up process by entering email, legal name, and DOB
- Tap Select sponsor and search for your parent or trusted adult
- Send a sponsor request
