Sending a Sponsor Request
After signing up for Cash App, anyone between the ages of 13 and 17 must ask an eligible parent or guardian to sponsor their account in order to access certain features.
Before an account is sponsored, certain actions will prompt you for more details, like ordering a Cash Card, sending a payment, or adding funds from a debit card. You can send a sponsor request directly from Family in account settings.
To do so:
Tap the Profile Icon on your Cash App home screen
Select Family and tap I’m a teen
Follow prompts to enter your name and birthday
Tap Select sponsor and look up a parent or guardian
Tap Send in the top right
[Sponsors] Inviting someone between the ages of 13 and 17 and sponsoring their account
An eligible parent or guardian with a verified account can also invite someone between the ages of 13 and 17 to create a Cash App account and manage money together.
To invite someone between the ages of 13 and 17, follow these steps in-app:
Tap the Profile Icon on your Cash App home screen
Select Family
Tap Invite a teen
Look up the information of the person you want to sponsor (name, $cashtag, phone number, or email). Syncing your contacts helps make this process easier.
Follow the prompts and enter the information of the person you want to sponsor
If you’re not seeing the Family tile in your Money tab:
1. Tap the Profile icon on your Cash App home screen
2. Select Family
3. Tap Invite a teen
4. Follow the prompts
If you’re not seeing the Family tile in your Money tab or in the Profile Icon, you’re likely ineligible to sponsor an account at this time.
Once the sponsor has sent an invite, they will need to finish setting up the sponsored account from their own Cash App account.
To approve a sponsor request:
Tap the Activity icon on your Cash App home screen
On Request for Approval, tap View
Review the terms and conditions and tap Accept
