For Tyler Mcghee, being himself is part of the job
The 24-year-old creator is building a career around curiosity and self-expression, with Cash App playing a role in how he manages the money he earns and brings his personality into everyday spending.
Two years ago, Tyler Mcghee was waiting tables in his hometown of Virginia. But outside of work, his curiosity was always pulling him toward the things that caught his eye.
Tyler loves collecting. First editions. Little trinkets. Objects he wants to keep just because they feel special. Look around his space, and you’ll find his collections displayed on the walls around him - vibrant makeup palettes, key chains and charms, and an extensive lineup of fragrances.
“I’m just a big trinket person,” Tyler said.
When Tyler finds something he likes, he doesn't only want to have it. He wants to share what excites him with other people.
In 2024, one TikTok showed him that his love of collecting could become more than a hobby. After posting his first video, he earned $4,000.
“I was like, ‘Okay, so yeah, this needs to happen,’” Tyler said.
Within two months, Tyler left his restaurant job to try creating content full-time. It’s been his livelihood ever since.
Today, Tyler makes his income by showcasing his collections with his community of over 125K followers. At 24, he’s traded one traditional paycheck for a career that supports him and his love of things.
“I’ve just been slowly growing, and I’ve been lucky enough to be able to pay my bills,” Tyler said. “Nothing crazy yet, you know, I’m not one of those huge influencers, but just enough to pay my bills and have a little fun here and there.”
While the way Tyler earns has changed, one part of how he manages his money has stayed familiar: Cash App. As his financial life has evolved, so has the way he uses Cash App, choosing the products that fit how he spends, manages, and moves money.

Infusing his personality into payments
Tyler first started using Cash App when he was 18, mainly as a way to send money between his family and friends.
Six years later, his financial life looks different—and so does the role Cash App plays in it.
Today, Tyler uses Cash App to pay rent and exchange money with his mom for household expenses. And as his creator career has grown, it’s remained part of how he manages money alongside the business he’s building..
“[Cash App] has always been there,” Tyler said.
But practicality is only one part of Tyler's relationship with Cash App.
The personality behind Tyler's content also shows up in the products he carries.
After getting his first Cash App Visa® Card(1), he learned he could customize it. The collector instinct came back, and he upgraded his first card to one covered in emojis. Later came the Glow card, which lights up in the dark.
“I love it because my favorite color is green,” Tyler said.
It's a small detail, but for someone who surrounds himself with things that reflect his personality, even something as simple as a debit card can become another opportunity to express himself.
Then Tyler discovered a Cash App product that brought even more of his interests together.

Collecting Cash App Tags(2) and bringing his audience along
When Cash App launched Tags this Summer, he didn't just see another way to tap to pay.
He saw something to collect.
The “first edition” label immediately caught his attention.
“I just love having the first of everything,” Tyler said. Then the creator in him took over.
“This is gonna be viral, probably,” Tyler remembers thinking. “I’m a sucker for content.”
That combination as a collector and creator has shaped Tyler's relationship with Tags ever since. As new designs have come out, he’s collected them. First the Wand, then the Mini Card, then the Heart, and made content around them, amassing hundreds of thousands of views, bringing his followers along as his collection grows.
“They’re so cute, and I just love having the collection, but I also love the content for it, and people love to see it,” Tyler said. “I will continue to get them as long as they come out.”
Tags also fit into his day-to-day life. Tyler doesn't like pulling out his wallet, so he keeps a Tag on his keychain and uses it when he can tap to pay. He's even created a Cash App Tags necklace - using the Wand, Mini Card, and Heart as DIY jewels.
“Having that on my keychain is just good to go,” he said.
That overlap is what makes Tags feel particularly suited to Tyler: something to collect, something to use, and something to turn into content. They bring together his personal style, his instinct for what might interest his followers, and how he manages his money.
A house of trinkets to call his own
Ask Tyler what financial success looks like and he doesn't start with a salary, follower count, or creator milestone.
He starts with independence.
“My financial goal is getting my own house,” Tyler said.
It's his clearest long-term financial ambition. Beyond that, what Tyler wants is stability, and enough money to enjoy the life he's building (while collecting more trinkets).
“Just having enough to be comfortable,” Tyler said. “I don’t aim to be super rich.”
That perspective has been shaped by finding his own path early.
“Not everybody’s financial route is the same. Everybody’s lifestyle is completely different. So just be yourself and try to do what is best for you.”
For Tyler, that philosophy connects more than his finances. It runs through the career he chose, the content he creates, the things he collects, and the way he expresses himself - and when Cash App drops another Tag, he’ll be the first one to tell you all about it.
