Common questions

What is a sponsored account?

A sponsored account allows anyone age 13-17 to use Cash App with approval from an eligible parent or guardian. It's free to sign up.

What can I do with a sponsored account?

You can get access to financial tools like Cash App Card and investing, while your sponsor can still have control over how you’re using your money.

What controls does a sponsor have?

Sponsors are the owners for the accounts they approve. They can see balances, monthly statements and real-time transactions. They can also manage permissions on investing and Cash App Card spending.

Is my Cash balance eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance?

If you have a sponsored account, or if you sponsor one or more sponsored accounts, your Cash balance and savings balance are eligible for FDIC pass-through insurance through our Program Banks Wells Fargo Bank, N.A. and/or Sutton Bank, Members FDIC, for up to $250,000 per customer when aggregated with all other deposits held in the same legal capacity at each Program Bank above, if certain conditions are met. See Terms and Conditions.***

How do I keep my account safe?

It’s a good idea to familiarize yourself with common scams, report phishing attempts, and only send money to people you trust. Make sure to always double check recipient information before sending a payment.

How do I get a debit card at 13?
