Introducing Cash App Tags—a magical new way to pay

A Cash App Tag is a physical payment device that is linked to and operates solely through your Cash App Card. It uses the same technology behind tap-to-pay to let you make purchases at contactless payment terminals without needing your phone or card.

Cash App Tags let you make purchases where Visa contactless payments are accepted. Look for the contactless symbol at checkout. Not all terminals support tap-to-pay, but where they do, your Tag works just like your Card. All transactions made using your Tag will appear in your Activity feed.

Yes, you first need to order and activate a Cash App Card. Your Cash App Tag is a companion to and is wholly dependent on your linked Cash App Card. The Tag is not a replacement for your card.

To order a Cash App Tag, you need:


• An active Cash App Card 


• A Cash App PIN


• To be 18 years old or older, or 13 years or older with a sponsored account

You can lock your tag instantly in the app. If it's lost or stolen, report it right away in the app and it will be deactivated. To help prevent unauthorized use, keep your tag in a secure place.

Remember that your Cash App Tag is linked to your Cash App Card, so the same protections that apply to your card will apply to your Tag. Any merchants you've blocked on your Card will also be blocked on your Tag, you'll receive the same alerts for suspicious transactions, and you're not responsible for fraudulent charges, subject to the Cash App Terms of Service.

Once you’ve received your tag in the mail, activate it by tapping and holding it to your phone in Cash App. Activation is quick and easy, and you’ll be guided through the process in the app. After setup, you don't need your phone to make payments, just your Cash App Tag.

Same account, same balance. Cash App Tag payments count toward your current card transaction limits.

Same features. Offers, Overdraft, and Afterpay all work the same way whether you pay with your tag or your card.

Separate controls. You can lock or unlock your tag independently from your card. Locking your card does not lock your tag, and locking your tag does not lock your card. This gives you full control over each device.

If you’re 18 or older, you can order a Cash App Card. If you’re between 13 and 17, you can order a Cash App Card with a sponsored account. You also need to have a physical mailing address, not a P.O. Box.
