About our Maximum Refund Guarantee
Last Updated: December 15, 2025
The Maximum Refund Guarantee program can only currently be used in the same calendar year that your federal tax returns were filed with Cash App Taxes, then amended with another online tax preparation service. Meaning, your original tax return, your amended tax return, and your Maximum Refund Guarantee request all need to occur within the same calendar year in order to use this program. This cannot be used for tax returns filed after the applicable IRS deadlines.
Any claims not meeting this criteria, claims submitted for state returns, or those claims submitted for prior year tax returns will be automatically denied since they do not meet the criteria for this program.
What is the Maximum Refund Guarantee?
Cash App Taxes wants to ensure that we give our customers peace of mind. If you receive a larger federal tax refund amount or owe less in federal taxes using the same Tax Return Information (as defined in the IRS Code Section 6103(b)(2)(A)) when filing an amended federal income tax return through another online tax preparation service, then you may be eligible to receive the difference in the refund or tax amount owed up to $100 (minimum $25) in the form of a gift card from Cash App Taxes. See below for eligibility requirements.
Our goal is to remedy the situation with you directly. You can always contact us if you find a difference that you believe can be remedied by filing an amended tax return using Cash App Taxes.
If we’re unable to help you solve your issue through Cash App Taxes, and you decide to file an amended return using another online tax preparation service, you can submit a Maximum Refund Guarantee claim.
How do I qualify for the Maximum Refund Guarantee?
In order to qualify for the Maximum Refund Guarantee from Cash App Taxes:
You must have filed your original federal income tax return or an extension through Cash App Taxes on or before the IRS filing deadline using forms that are supported by Cash App Taxes;
You must have filed an amended federal income tax return with another online tax preparation service by the IRS deadline and in the same year you filed your original federal tax return using the same Tax Return Information (as defined in the IRS Code Section 6103(b)(2)(A)) that you used when filing with Cash App Taxes;
Your amended federal income tax return must have been accepted by the IRS and show that you have a larger federal tax refund amount or owe less in federal taxes;
You must submit your complete Maximum Refund Guarantee claim to Cash App Taxes no later than the end of the calendar year in which you filed your original and amended federal tax returns; and
The higher federal tax refund or lower federal tax liability cannot be attributed to:
claims you make on your tax return(s) that are contrary to law and regulations;
your failure to file an amended return after we announce any updates or corrections to the Cash App Taxes software;
your failure to correct and resolve errors identified by Cash App Taxes prior to your submitting a claim under this Maximum Refund Guarantee;
your failure to provide all necessary information for Cash App Taxes to assess your claim; and/or
any other reason outside the control of Cash App Taxes.
6. As a reminder, original federal tax returns or amended federal tax returns that are filed after the relevant IRS deadlines are ineligible for this program.
