Cash App Launches Payment Links: An Even Simpler Way to Request Money
February 10, 2026
Cash App today introduced payment links, a new peer-to-peer payment feature that makes requesting money as quick and easy as sending a text. Now, customers can generate shareable Cash App payment requests links that can be sent anywhere including text, email, social media and messaging apps.
According to a survey commissioned by Cash App in 2024, 53% of Gen Z respondents send a reminder text before they send a payment request and 49% send a follow-up message afterward. Payment links remove extra steps from the process by allowing customers to share payment requests in the spaces where they’re already interacting with friends and family, like texts and DMs.
“Payment links make moving money even more seamless, but just as importantly they make the task of requesting money feel more human and less awkward,” said Kristen Anderson, P2P & Networks Product Lead at Cash App. “We’ve heard from our customers that sending in-app payment requests and push notifications can sometimes come across overly formal or even passive aggressive. Payment links solve this by allowing customers to send requests through whichever platform feels most natural so that they can add context, levity, or humor to the conversation.”
Customers can generate a payment link through the Cash App payment tab by going through the normal request flow. From there, instead of clicking “add recipient” the customer can choose the “share link” option which will generate a unique link that can be shared anywhere. When the recipient taps the link, Cash App will open a pre-filled payment with the amount and note so they can pay the requester in seconds. Payment links through Cash App are also reusable, meaning that they can be shared to request money from multiple recipients and for recurring costs.
Payment links are currently available for all eligible Cash App customers, including Cash App for Business accounts.
